Critical Thinking + Fun Games = A Good Match!

zoopz.com

To check off the "Critical Thinking" component for Students in Technology, I like to use a variety of activities that really engage Students. In my End of Year Survey, Students will always say that these are the activities that they like the most.  Robotics and "Hour of Code" are an easy selection and we do incorporate these activities fully. But there are a few online games that I have found that require them to think through a process and find a solution. It's a real-plus when I can find online resources, as it helps me reach a larger audience.  These programs are rated for K-5 Students, however I prefer to use games with younger students, starting with our K-Friends.

Zoopz (www.zoopz.com) is a fun one.  I enjoy the two inch-worm games the most.  It gets rather tricky as you progress through the levels.  Connection (http://www.funintablet.com/game.html?g=6)
is another.  The player has to connect the little monsters without crossing over the other connections.  Again, very tricky as you progress through the levels.  Time also plays apart...the faster you solve the puzzle, the more stars you'll get.  And lastly, BigFish (http://www.funintablet.com/game.html?g=4) is 'nail-biter' fun.  The player's fish has to eat the smaller fish.  The fish gets gradually bigger as it eats more fish. The tricky part here is how fast things move in the game....it keeps you on your toes.  All three are fun, highly addictive and work well in Centers, during free-Lab time, and just about any other activity.

Now, let's get playing....
