Over 500 Students come through the doors of the Tech Lab each week for Encore. To encourage participation and boost good behavior choices, I send a postcard to one Student per Class with a note of praise, encouragement or fun quip! I'll also send one to those Students that are helpful friends. I always address them to the Student with a c/o the Teacher's box. This has caught a bunch of attention. I've heard that Students beg their teacher to check their box and when a postcard comes, they all expectantly hope it to be for them.
But here's another dimension to this...they'll put it in their backpacks and take them home! Mom or Dad reads it and it tells them that their child is doing positive things, being helpful and more! So now this becomes a way to connect at home! Hmmm.....This is really an amazing idea!
